The Ultimate Shop Small Guide To Gifting This Christmas

To keep it small, sustainable, and
stylish in 2024.

We say it every year but here we are again on November 29th thinking: “Doesn’t Christmas creep up so quickly...” and wondering “...how have I not bought any gifts?”. So, with no further ado, I have put together the ultimate gift list for your festive shopping, including some of my favourite small businesses. Be it a spiritual gift or a piece of homeware, each company listed is sustainable and unique and you’re sure to find something for even the fussiest of relatives.

Sally Sutherland Designs

Sally Sutherland is a storyteller through glass, working with both soft glass and borosilicate. Some of you may recognise her mesmerising galaxy marbles which I use in my best-selling Galaxy Balls. Sally is based in Scotland and takes her inspiration from magic, mythology, and the stunning Scottish landscape that surrounds her.

I’ve asked Sally what treats she has in store for us this Christmas, and there are so many special pieces on her workbench, including Christmas-themed dolls, Spirit Shrines, Christmas Icicles, and Mini Galaxy Marble Paperweights.

The perfect gift for someone looking for unique Christmas home décor or a new family keepsake to be cherished each year. I can’t wait to see more.

Laura Lane Ceramics

From the playful ‘illustrated arty plates’ to the whimsical ‘Cornish Folk’ collection, Laura Lane is the perfect gift for anyone looking to spice up their home with a little ceramic eccentricity. Laura Lane is inspired by Cornish Folklore and takes a tongue-in-cheek response to every-day Cornish life. Each piece is made by hand in her Cornish studio and finished with quaint hand illustrations that simply make me smile.

Using handmade methods, Cornish Clay from St Agnes, and a ‘Waste Not’ ethos, I think you’ll find something truly unique, for the sustainable gift option.

Naked Generation

With individuality and soulfulness at its heart, Naked Generation is the tribe I want to join. Lara (Founder) describes Naked Generation as being built from “a life lived amongst the lyrics of Joni Mitchell, vintage threads, and a deep affinity to the 1970’s”.

While many clothing brands claim to have a sustainable ethos, it’s hard to beat that of Naked Generation and their efforts to work with traditional Indian craftsmen in Jaipur, ensuring ethical manufacturing processes, using earthy dyes, natural materials, and a slow seasonal style that never goes out of fashion.

Lara creates beautiful clothes that are “as unique as the women who wear them” inspired by sisterhood, Indian traditions, and a vintage block printed Phool dress which she bought at a flea market in early 2000’s.

Naked Generation is the perfect gift for someone who is looking for sustainable clothes that help them tell their unique life story, whilst feeling confident, comfortable, and feminine.

White Feather Witch

A Tarot Reader, Psychic Medium, Clairvoyant, and Witch. Sharon Lee is one of my best friends and I am so proud to include her in this list. As someone who offers such beautiful readings, I couldn’t think of a more perfect gift for a loved one who is looking to go into 2025 with a little insight, knowledge, and guidance.

Sharon uses her abilities to read her Tarot Cards, receive messages from loved ones and guidance from spirits and spirit guides, to provide insight, comfort, and guidance for her clients.

Living in Cornwall, Sharon is drawn to the great and beautiful outdoors, the sea, the vast night sky, and the nature all around her. Sharon holds face-to-face sessions as well as video calls and offers gift vouchers - the perfect spiritual gift this Christmas.

Speckled Earth Pottery

“Transforming materials from the land into unique and durable homeware” is how Sue, founder of Speckled Earth Pottery, describes her art. Made by hand in her Cornish studio, Sue wanted to create a homeware collection that was durable, affordable, and sustainable. Using wheel-thrown clay, her distinctive speckled style, and colourful glazes, Speckled Earth Pottery was born.

Taking inspiration from the lunar cycle, crystals, and nature, Sue creates beautiful transfers on her clay which add to the earthy look and feel of her products. I have many items from Speckled Earth in my home and I love seeing what new designs she comes up with.

Be it a new cacao cup or a tea-light holder, you’ll find what you desire here. The perfect gift for someone who wants to feel that warm and cosy feeling this season.

The Soul Sanctuary Path

Delve into the colder months and evoke your senses with The Soul Sanctuary Path this Christmas. Hand poured, in North Cornwall, Melinda (Founder), has created the perfect collection of candles, designed to rebalance the energies of the sensitive soul.

Melinda is inspired by the wonder of nature and uses the power of plants and sacred geometry, to enhance soul-led practices. Each candle is made by hand, using sustainable plant waxes and pure essential oils.

With three new offerings for the Autumn / Winter season, The Soul Sanctuary Path brings warmth, nostalgia, and magic to your space. Use the code GIFT15 at checkout for a 15% discount when purchasing two or more candles (valid until Dec 2nd). The perfect gift for a sensitive soul looking to add a bit of aromatherapy magic to their home.

So here concludes my ultimate small shop guide to gifting this Christmas!
